Re: trying to connect my xbox to windows 7 pc, via media center extender...

The Media Center PC should always be wired to the router. ?This is the recommendation from Microsoft from the very beginning of Media Center. ?

I would also look to some sort of wired connection for your extender as well. ?There are lots of "Ethernet over..." options. ?I personally use MOCA (Ethernet over coax). ?There is also Ethernet over Powerline. ?There may also still be Ethernet over telelphone lines as well. ?

With that said, your issue may be with your router. ?Some have had success with what you are trying, but I have experienced this problem with servers in office environments. ?The router forgets that the server exists out there and the workstations cannot find it. ?That is likely what is happening in this case. ?You might try other routers, but please re-read my 1st 2 paragraphs as if you can fins another connectivity solution it will be easier to connect and far more reliable than any wireless solution.
